Dead woman gets federal stimulus check

Anne Arundel died four decades ago but yet she received a $250 federal stimulus check. Her 83-year-old son, James Hagner, check his mailbox and discovered the check.

What happened? Social Security officials say that about 10,000 of the 52 million checks sent out were sent to people who are deceased. So what happened exactly? Well, the agency is blaming the strict mid-June deadline of mailing out the checks. They say it didn't leave them enough time to clean up their system.

However, they are reminding people that get the checks in error that it is federal offense to cash someone else's check.
